Thunderbird Alumni Challenge Lab

The 2020 Alumni lab is postponed due to Covid-19. We eagerly await the resumption of global travel!

Adventure and Impact

The Alumni Challenge Lab is a one-week immersive consulting engagement with a dynamic growing business in an emerging economy. The program builds on the success of the Thunderbird Challenge Lab (previously called the TEM Lab), which is the flagship international consulting experience for current Thunderbirds in all degree programs. The Alumni Lab has been incredibly well received by Tbird Alumni and local client businesses in Quito, Ecuador, Bogotá, Colombia and Santiago, Chile. In 2020 we set our sights on Jakarta, Indonesia.

Indonesia is a dynamic and geographically accessible market in Asia with a national emphasis on the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Alongside Thunderbird Professor Tom Hunsaker, alumni consultants will dive deep into the Indonesian business landscape by engaging with a client seeking to address 4IR themes. Participants will learn from local ecosystem stakeholders and experts and explore future-ready ideas with the client.

TEM Lab was created in 2010 as a capstone international consulting program for Thunderbird graduate students in the full-time program. Since that time a Thunderbird consulting lab has been implemented, in various forms, in every degree program including undergraduate. The Lab has delivered well over 100 projects in over 30 countries. In 2020 the Global Challenge Lab (GCL) will reach full scale by engaging all FT MGM students with a real client project somewhere in the world—nearly 25 projects in Fall of 2020.
