Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2017-18, Global Report, suggested that entrepreneurship activities continue to grow globally. Increasingly, the activities were triggered by opportunities rather than by necessity that drove creativity for many decades. The new digital technological transformation had created tremendous opportunities, hence the increase in the need for new, innovative ventures. Additionally, the report also found that the change in attitude towards entrepreneurship and regulations in various countries had perpetuated entrepreneurship activities. To meet this market need, Thunderbird has designed the Global Entrepreneurship concentration within the Master of Global Management degree program.
This concentration is offered to students who are interested in starting their own business, or who need to be entrepreneurial in the organizations they work for. This concentration will sharpen your entrepreneurial skills, help develop business plans for global enterprises, and promote innovation and economic growth globally.
The World Economic Forum reports that empathy and collaboration are two critical abilities for global manager success. These are equally critical for those seeking careers in Global Entrepreneurship. These abilities rely on the development of Social Capital. This program is designed to develop a student’s Social Capital through field-based action learning, team-based projects, and stretch assignments. You will have the ability to build sustainable trusting relationships—the basis of Social Capital—with others from diverse parts of the world through development of intercultural empathy, the ability to have interpersonal impact, and to act with diplomacy.
18 credits of Global Business Core course common to all concentrations:
1 credit (Capstone) Thunderbird Integrative Experience:
6 credits of Applied Learning::
12 credits of Concentration coursework:
12 credits of any graduate level electives relevant to career, could also be language courses to fulfill second language requirement.
1 credit (Capstone) Thunderbird Integrative Experience - Professional Development Plan.

Global leadership potential
Our Admissions team will consider both your professional and personal experience when assessing your fit for the program. On average, our students have five years of professional experience before entering the program; however, each candidate's global leadership potential—and his or her ability to bring global experience and cultural insight into the classroom—is of utmost importance to our Admissions team. We seek to fill our program with globally minded students whose professional or personal experiences will add value to the diverse cultural and social Thunderbird experience.
The application process for international students is the same as for domestic students, with the exception of submitting proof of English proficiency (for students whose native language is not English). After admission, you will also be required to obtain a U.S. visa, which includes submitting a graduate financial guarantee. All international transcripts must be submitted in their original language accompanied by an official English translation. Translations must be literal, complete versions of the originals and must be translated by a university, government official or official translation service. You may not complete your own translation. Photocopies and notarized transcripts are not acceptable.
English proficiency requirements
Applicants are required to meet certain English proficiency standards for acceptance. If your English proficiency scores are below acceptance standards, you may be required to take pre-degree English instruction to ensure you meet the level of English proficiency needed to succeed in your graduate studies.
