Due to the aging population of the U.S. and the world, many jobs of the future will involve health care services, including health care management and delivery. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs in the area of medical and health care management will grow 20 percent between 2016-2026. The Bureau also estimates the median annual wage for health care managers is almost twice that of the U.S. median. This concentration will help to meet the growing need for health care related managers.
The target audience for the concentration are current or aspiring managers in health care that would like to hone their leadership and management skills and position themselves to move into leadership. Some health care practitioners, such as nurses and doctors, may also use the degree as a way to move from clinical practice into management. Students will gain perspectives on both global management and health care delivery.
Global health care delivery addresses the current and future needs of the workforce in the health care industry globally, such as C-suite executives and administrators, health care providers (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses), front line staff (respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and dietitians), and students in the health-related disciplines. You will achieve a demonstrated ability in design of systems, processes, leadership and management used to optimize health care delivery and health for all. In addition, you will integrate evidence-based financial principles toward improved individual and population health outcomes (ex: leadership strategies in change management). This concentration is offered in collaboration with the College of Health Solutions as ASU.

Global leadership potential
Our Admissions team will consider both your professional and personal experience when assessing your fit for the program. On average, our students have five years of professional experience before entering the program; however, each candidate's global leadership potential—and his or her ability to bring global experience and cultural insight into the classroom—is of utmost importance to our Admissions team. We seek to fill our program with globally minded students whose professional or personal experiences will add value to the diverse cultural and social Thunderbird experience.
The application process for international students is the same as for domestic students, with the exception of submitting proof of English proficiency (for students whose native language is not English). After admission, you will also be required to obtain a U.S. visa, which includes submitting a graduate financial guarantee. All international transcripts must be submitted in their original language accompanied by an official English translation. Translations must be literal, complete versions of the originals and must be translated by a university, government official or official translation service. You may not complete your own translation. Photocopies and notarized transcripts are not acceptable.
English proficiency requirements
Applicants are required to meet certain English proficiency standards for acceptance. If your English proficiency scores are below acceptance standards, you may be required to take pre-degree English instruction to ensure you meet the level of English proficiency needed to succeed in your graduate studies.
