Up for a short hike with a big payoff? Join Tbird Trekkers for a 3-hour hike on Catalina Island. We will be hiking to Lone Tree point via the Garden to Sky and Hermit Gulch Trails. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 0 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and trail running.  And the views are stunning.

Details:

You will need to catch a ferry to Avalon via Long Beach or San Pedro.  Please take the morning ferry that will have you in Catalina by 11.00am.  We plan to start the hike from the Botanic Gardens at noon.  That should leave plenty of time to explore Avalon in the late afternoon before catching a Ferry back.  Please note some of the San Pedro ferries also stop at Two Harbors so double check your bookings.  Round Trip fare is $77.00

The Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden located at the top of Avalon Canyon, is a 1.75 mile walk up the road from town. You can also catch a ride on the city's trolley or the Catalina Island Conservancy's Wilderness Express (310-510-0143) from the Transportation Plaza for only a few bucks per person. The Garden entrance fee is $10 for adults.

If you would like to stay in Catalina that Friday or Saturday night we would recommend making your booking soon as Catalina is a very popular SoCal destination for weekends and day trippers.
