Designing for Crisis through Innovation

Effective crisis management plans and preparations are customized to external stakeholders’ concerns and needs, and they keep all employees informed. Crisis management leaders must know how to readily access and make the most of messaging and communication technology in advance of any crisis. Participants will learn to take a strategic approach to selecting, establishing and reinforcing communication links, customizing the timing of information flow and working with communication experts to achieve optimal outreach before, during and after crises.

  • Learn how to create a customized map of your organization’s key stakeholders, including the influential outliers who are less obvious but still important.
  • Transform how you approach planning for crisis management through scenario analysis, brainstorming and small group discussion.
  • Explore how a global and distributed workforce can drive different behaviors and learn how to address and capitalize on them.
  • Apply stakeholder mapping to a scenario-based crisis to discover and analyze their assumptions.
  • Enhance your crisis management skills via milestone setting with design tools.

This program isdesigned for seasoned leaders seeking to further advance their thinking, their networks and their careers. Participants will represent a range of B2C and B2B industries from a diversity of companies, countries and cultures. The program is ideal for vice presidents, directors and senior staff responsible for identifying and managing potential crises that could occur in their organization or industry. This program is for leaders looking to make a significant impact on their company’s ability to survive crisis- and risk-related issues facing their organization, especially within the context of today’s global and/or cross-cultural responsibilities. Senior managers across other business functions who have recently transitioned to roles that might have to address these issues will also benefit from the program.

  • Bridge the gap between expected behaviors driven by organizational values versus actions and outcomes that could be driven by employees’ native cultures.
  • Broaden your global perspective and evaluate and anticipate likely cross-cultural or multicultural challenges to crisis management.
  • Develop your organizational vigilance through the framework of highreliability organizations.
  • Discover and test your assumptions about the actions and reactions of key stakeholders in the event of an actual crisis.
  • Learn how to determine the costs and benefits of crisis management planning within your organization.
  • Create skills for problem identification and solution.
