March 7, 2018

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, we continue to spotlight remarkable graduates of Project Artemis, who represent a face of positive change.

Project Artemis is a transformative initiative delivered by Thunderbird School of Global Management that offers Afghan women entrepreneurs intensive business training and mentoring. Learn more about Project Artemis and how you can support mentoring programs for Afghan women entrepreneurs.

Zainularab Miri

Zainularab Miri was a beekeeper in Ghazni province Afghanistan. Life was very difficult under the Taliban. She had to run her business underground. After the Taliban fell, she was able to conduct business openly but realized she lacked essential business and administrative skills to grow her company. She participated in Project Artemis and gained valuable insights into managing her accounts and employees. Her mentor was encouraging and provided help to secure a grant. She has grown her business from 2 hives to more than 100. She now trains other women in beekeeping enabling them to provide a better life for their families and communities.
