Master of Applied Leadership & Management
In the MALM program, you earn an accredited master's degree from the globally recognized Thunderbird School of Global Management, but you will do so in a flexible online format (the MALM is a master of applied leadership and management, not a master of arts degree). The program curriculum is based on examining leadership and management through the lens of high growth and emerging markets. This focus allows students in emerging markets to learn practical skills in a relevant context, while also providing a global view of business for non-emerging market students. You can enter the program by (a) applying and being admitted or (b) taking the first four classes offered by Thunderbird through the edX MicroMasters. The MicroMasters courses account for eight credit hours of study, 27% of the total credit requirements for the MALM degree. The other 22 credits are completed after students enroll in the MALM program. We recommend option A for most students.
While the program curriculum is delivered 100% online, you have the opportunity to add an in-person capstone experience to your graduate degree in the following way:
Recommended but optional In-person Business and Strategic Plan Experience
The culmination of the MALM program is a capstone course focused on the creation of either a business or strategic plan. This capstone course can be completed via an in-person experience at select global locations or online. However, the in-person experience is designed to facilitate your development of a business or strategic plan, assisted by Thunderbird faculty, alumni, and experts in a face-to-face setting. We highly recommend that students participate in this in-person experience.
