Afghan Women’s Rights Leaders Learn to Train Others in the Powers of Persuasion

In March 2019, Thunderbird for Good faculty, Doctor Eileen Borris, delivered ten days of train-the-trainer model workshops in Kabul, Afghanistan, focusing on building persuasion skills for a select group of 50 leaders and advocates of women’s rights. Participants attended from across Afghanistan’s provinces and returned to their communities with the goal to train more than 5,000 other advocates throughout 2019. That larger group will use their new advocacy and persuasion skills to improve the lives of all Afghan women at both the national and provincial levels.read more

A little over 10 years ago I stood in a government compound in Ghazni City, Afghanistan, listening to local leaders share their plans for the future of the city. Plans that included a modern shopping plaza and city parks were discussed with enthusiasm. They talked about improving the education system and enabling both girls and boys to graduate high school and perhaps go on to University. Sadly this dream has not come true.read more
