Thunderbird Outstanding Graduate uses education to propel own company forward

As the founder and president of Nutritional Manufacturing Services (NMS) based in Chandler, Arizona, Shannon Heying is always looking for ways to become a better leader and provide the highest-quality nutritional products and solutions to her customers. Earning an Executive Master of Global Management (EMGM) at Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management proved to be one of these ways.

Native women entrepreneurs begin 1-week training program on Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Since 2015, the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, in partnership with the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, has been empowering Native American women entrepreneurs through the no-cost business development program Project DreamCatcher.

On Oct. 9, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the program kicked off its latest session with participants from Arizona and New Mexico tribal communities. The one-week program is designed to build the capacity of Native women business owners and is taking place at the headquarters of the Thunderbird School of Global Management on ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus.

116 talented women celebrated as entrepreneur training concludes

The third cohort of participants of the WE3A Strengthening Women Entrepreneurs in Value Chains Initiative recently graduated, contributing to the 116 businesswomen who sought training to advance their company’s potential.
Implemented locally by the Women’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Guyana (WCCIG), the WE3A initiative aims to provide women who own small- and medium-sized businesses in Central and South America with the tools and skills to develop their companies.

Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce invests in entrepreneurial women with Wells Fargo’s help

Rachel Martinez is a researcher turned entrepreneur who initially found a career in libraries. She enjoys researching different topics and helping people from different backgrounds learn. The pandemic in 2020 rocked the field of higher education where she and her co-worker, Julie Allen, worked.

Phoenix program teaches Mexican women living in the U.S. how to run a successful business

The program is centered around a business curriculum created by Thunderbird School of Global Management in 2005. The curriculum — called DreamBuilder — is available for free online to anyone at dreambuilder.org. It was funded by the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the global mining company based in Phoenix.

Instructure and Thunderbird at ASU’s Partnership: A Global Campaign for Accessibility and Equity in Education

Thunderbird School of Global Management has big plans to close educational equity gaps and educate women and girls around the world. In 2022, Thunderbird announced its initiative to provide education for 100 million global learners by 2030. This ambitious goal will be achieved through the Francis and Dionne Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative. Instructure is proud to partner with ASU through our Canvas Learning Management System to fuel this initiative worldwide.

Thunderbird’s Project DreamCatcher empowers Native American entrepreneurs to thrive

Charmayne Dawahoya grew up on the White Mountain Apache Reservation, where she and her husband co-own Bear Beans Coffee. Seeking to expand her entrepreneurial knowledge and advance her business with a sustainable mindset, Dawahoya enrolled in Project DreamCatcher — a week-long business training program specifically designed for female Native American entrepreneurs.

Thunderbird’s 100 Million Learners Global Initiative honored for excellence in inclusion, community building

The Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University was recently awarded the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) 2023 Inclusion Award for Community Building for its Francis and Dionne Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative.
