Spring 2022 Convocation

May 9 & 10 | In-person

The Thunderbird School of Global Management will celebrate its Class of 2022 degree candidates at the spring 2022 convocation ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 10 at 4 p.m. at an in-person ceremony inside Phoenix Symphony Hall. Please find additional details below regarding ASU Commencement ceremonies, regalia and more. Additional information will be provided as the event date nears.


Convocation Dates

Convocation ceremonies are being held on Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10. You may attend any and all relevant events.

Convocation Tickets

All guests will be required to have a ticket. Students may pick up tickets on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. by the 3rd floor elevators of TGHB. Can’t make either date? Students may also pick up their tickets from the Academic Operations Office in Suite 401 until May 9. Tickets will not be available on the day of convocation or at the door.

Safety and Security Policies

Health Policy:  Face coverings are recommended but not required.

Clear Bag Policy:  All guests bringing a bag of any kind must meet the following specifications: clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC (Max size: 12”x6”x12”) or be a small clutch bag approximately the size of a hand (Max size: 4.5”x6.4”).

Please note: Helium balloons are not permitted inside Symphony Hall. If balloons are brought to the venue, guests will be asked to dispose of them before entering.

Register for graduation

Registration will be available for spring 2022 graduates beginning March 7. Students will register via MarchingOrder on their MyASU homepage. It is through MarchingOrder that graduates can order up to five (5) tickets for convocation. Learn more here: On April 17 registration for graduation will close. Be sure to register in advance of that date.

Graduation Awards Ceremony and Reception

Thunderbird is thrilled to invite you to the Spring 2022 Graduate Awards Ceremony & Reception on Monday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Thunderbird Global Headquarters. 

An RSVP is needed to confirm the attendance of you and your friends and family. Please complete the form here by May 4.

Parade of Flags

Thunderbird graduates have the opportunity to represent their home countries in the long-lived tradition of the Parade of Flags during convocation on May 10. Parade of Flag volunteers will arrive at the Thunderbird headquarters prior to convocation, where the parade will begin towards Phoenix Symphony Hall. Participating students should also prepare 1-2 sentences about their home countries to share during the ceremony. 

Students interested in volunteering for the Parade of Flags should fill out this form no later than April 29. Registration is first-come, first-served, and further details will be provided to the selected graduates after the registration deadline.

Regalia Orders

Spring 2020, fall 2020, spring 2021, and spring 2022 graduates may order regalia for rental here starting Friday, February 11, 2022. The deadline to place this order is Monday, April 11, 2022. Regalia will be mailed to the address the graduate provides.

Faculty deadline to purchase regalia through Herff Jones is March 29. After this deadline Faculty regalia can only be purchased at the ASU Tempe Bookstore (limited supply). Students can email for questions regarding regalia.

If all university academic requirements are met, students will receive their diplomas in the mail six to eight weeks after the degree conferral date. Graduates will receive an email notification via their ASU email account when their diploma has been mailed. Diplomas are mailed to the student's diploma mailing address, which can be viewed and updated from My ASU. For more information, visit this website.

Regalia Photos

Once you receive* your cap and gown you may attend one of the following photography sessions where you may purchase a photo package. This is entirely optional. After the photo session, you will receive your photo proofs via email with instructions on how to select photos to purchase.

Thunderbird Spring 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 graduates

We are honored to invite the Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 classes back to participate in the Spring 2022 Convocation Ceremony on May 10. Alumni who are interested in attending this ceremony in person should click the link they received in the email with the subject line of “Update: Your in-person commencement” from The deadline to respond is April 4. Alumni will then receive information to RSVP via MarchingOrder and order up to five (5) tickets for convocation. MarchingOrder registration closes on April 17. Be sure to register in advance of that date.
